These men have bowled in the Beaver Valley
Bowling Association, some as far back as in 1930. All of them have appeared in
the "bowling book" entitled "Twenty-Five Years in Beaver Valley
Bowling", published in 1993 by Charles Moser from New Castle.
Posted below are a few of those bowlers amongst
the thousands who have bowled in the BVBA. Prior to 1968 and before any official
average books were kept, each league secretary kept the league's records and
sent final average sheets to the ABC. James "Mac" McGovern,
Association Secretary at the time, was instrumental in compiling the BVBA's
first average book in 1968.
The averages listed starting in 1968 are for the
bowlers who have bowled in at least two BVBA leagues. The " * "
identifies bowlers who had the highest average and bowled in only one league
that season.
The book was used to compile the list of names and averages used on this
page. Thanks to Charles Moser,
"Mac" McGovern, Beryl Miller, Sr., Russel Bell, and all those who took
the time, did the research, and compiled this very detailed history of bowlers
in the Beaver Valley.
